Restaurants and Dining in Trinidad, California
Trinidad has excellent restaurants. Moonstone Grill, Larrupin' Cafe, and Sunset are three of the very best on the West Coast. All are non-smoking.
Moonstone Grill:
Simply the best in Trinidad and one of the very best on the West Coast. Would run out of superlatives to describe this wonderful place. Dinner only, 5:00 to 8:30 pm Wednesday thru Sunday nights; spectacular oceanview setting on large acreage on a bluff overlooking Moonstone Beach and the ocean; only Trinidad restaurant with a bar adjoining the restaurant; Live lobster is flown in and abalone is also available. The Wild Alaskan salmon and the Rib Eye are TDF; our highest recommendation for food and service and outstanding management. Reservations strongly suggested.

Larrupin Cafe:

Also one of the best on the West Coast. Dinner only 5 to 9 pm Thursday thru Sunday nights; garden setting on about two acres; creative menu with unique sauces and appetizers. Wonderful food in general. Service can be slow on busy nights; a tie with Sunset for number two in Trinidad. Please note that Larrupin Cafe does not accept credit cards.

Sunset Restaurant:
Excellent food and service. Dinner only 5 to 9 pm seven days per week. Seafood fettucine especially good. Very nice view through the trees to Trinidad Head and the harbor and ocean. Part of a larger casino complex. The restaurant is well separated from the casino and is non-smoking. Not as creative a menu as Larrupin but still a very good selection of entrees. Well-run with excellent service and outstanding ocean view.

Seascape:

Located at the base of the pier at Trinidad harbor. Family style ambience with some booth seating and also tables. Very good clam chowder and simple salads. Excellent crab dishes when crab is in season. Some local fish dishes are good. Recent reports about the halibut have been thumbs up. For some reason the dinners can be at times inconsistent and even mediocre. Can get a good breakfast however anytime throughout the day. Burgers. fries and milkshakes make this a smart choice for families. Open all day every day until 9 pm. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Friendly staff and wonderful harbor/fishing village ambience. Small beach below called "Pier Beach" by the locals.

Although not a restaurant, the Murphy's Market has an excellent deli that makes sandwiches. Well-run with lots of organic choices. Great place to stock up for a long afternoon of beachcombing and redwood hiking. Also has extensive wine and beer selection.
